Working with Source Instance Transform
The source instance transform represents the source object that needs to be treated as the source. The source instance transform corresponds to the data object created for a specific type of source system. The extraction SQL or command executed on the source system is generated based on the configuration of the source instance transform. The properties to be configured in the source instance transform depends on the type of the data object used to create the source instance.
The source instance can be either native or external to the data flow. This is determined based on the type of data object used as the source instance and the native type of the data flow. The type of source instance determines how the extraction SQL or command will be generated for execution.
Native Source: The source instance is called native in two cases
- The data point linked to the source instance and the data flow is same or
- The data point linked to the source instance and the data flow is of same type and the connection properties defined in the associated data point is same.
External Source: The source instance is called external in two cases
- The data point linked to the source instance and the data flow are of different type or
- The data point linked to the source instance and the data flow is of same type and the connection properties defined in the associated data point are different.
